According to the authors of the illustrated catalog "Ukrainian Churches of Brody District", according to unpublished schematism, prepared in 1939, the wooden church of St. John the Theologian in the village. Klekotov was built in 1686. In some publications, registers of monuments there is a date of construction of the temple 1720.

Initially, the church was a three-story one-story building. Adjacent to the square nave (central part of the temple) was a slightly narrower rectangular nave from the west, and a faceted altar from the east. The church was built, as they say, "without a single nail" and stood on solid oak foundations. In the second half of the XIX century. there is a need to expand the temple. In 1871, the church was transformed into a cruciform building: from the north and south, the side arms were added to the nave, and the nave was added to the nave. During the construction, the walls in the interior of the church were covered with paintings in the classicist style. The temple was surrounded by an attic. All roofs, attics and walls above the attic were covered with shingles. However, in the early 1900s, shingles and roofs were replaced by tin.
